TV: Great News

If you've read this far and suspect that I've got a thing for the Grand Dames of comedy, a) you're right, and b) this won't be a surprise.  Except that maybe the fact that the show exists at all will be a surprise, since nobody I've mentioned it to has heard of it.

"Great News" is about a TV news producer whose mother begins an internship at the same station.  The mother is played by Andrea Martin, which is why it caught my eye, and I noticed from the promo photos that Tina Fey is in it (although not until season 2).

It's light-hearted and funny, and with 23 episodes over two seasons it's not a big investment of time.

Scores and comments for:
Great News
Gore/Violence:  Very low.
Passes Bechdel test:  Yes.  (The first minute and a half or so is Katie and Carol talking about work, Carol's friends, living in New York, etc.).
Diversity:  Typical for prime-time shows - a few token minorities in the cast.
HAES-friendly:  Not great here.  There aren't a ton of fat jokes but they do pop up.

As of July 2019, it's available on Netflix Canada.
