Henry Hagans

Henry Hagans looks on with justified pride at three of his children, eldest son Galen and twins Gauthier and Henrietta, as he leaves for work on his last day as police chief.  All three have jobs and are assiduously keeping up with their homework.  By the end of the day he will have been promoted to Captain Hero, and will pass peacefully away, content in the knowledge that his children are taken care of in areas large (10000 Simoleons each from his life insurance) and small (the fridge well-stocked with Grandma's Comfort Soup).

When the first child reaches adulthood, I roll to see which one will inherit the house or apartment.  With this round, I'm instituting a new rule, where I roll the number of children + 1.  If I roll the last number, all the children move out, and the parents move to the old folk's home in the last day or two of death.  I changed my scheme because I realized the only time people moved to the old folk's home was when they had no children, but that's a very uncommon roll in the way I'm playing the challenge.

Tia and Tiffany Do

Twins Tia and Tiffany Do have just grown to adulthood, and are looking for their own place to live.  They'll leave their elder sister Tiana to take care of their aging parents and inherit the house.

Oops

It seems I may have pressed the Sims 2 right up to the edge of what it can handle.  Normally when you start playing a new household, a few townies show up to say hi.  (It's a nice game mechanism that lets your Sim make a few friends right away).  However, when I added this most recently family, the game spawned five identical townies, all named Magnus Ryan.

Kirkwood Kemp

Kirkwood Kemp is the only boy in a family of women, and he is not used to being told 'no'.  He has already stayed up all night, arguing that it's Saturday and his homework is done, but he's pushing his luck now about something.  These are his aunts, Kunigunda and Ketura, and his mother Keziah is in the bath.  They have a fourth sister, Kerenhappuch, and the mother of all four is Kissiah, who also lives in the extended family home.  Kirkwood also has a sister, Kansas, so it's a busy household.  The Kemp sisters are hoping to be potters, digging clay out of their extensive backyard.  They have been practicing and hope to start selling their wares, as well as planting a garden, as soon as spring comes.

I love that my random generation created this family with a mother, her four daughters, and one daughter's two children.  All the unusual names come from my extensive family tree database, and none appear as top-1000 names in the Baby Name Voyager

An Amusing Glitch

David McAuley apparently thought it was "take your baby to work day", or perhaps he is the first enlightened businessperson to establish an on-site daycare at his company.  I hope Dayana enjoyed her day at the office.

Most of the time if Sims are holding a baby or toddler when their carpool arrives, they put them in the crib or on the floor before leaving.  Once in a blue moon this happens instead - the baby appears to stay attached, although the Sim is not holding them any longer.  This allowed both parents to go to work, and fortunately the baby's needs (hunger, etc.) don't decline while they are away.

Sophronia Sadler

Sophronia Sadler was just a toddler when her family emigrated to Middleground, and she does not remember any other home than this cosy house.  Here she spends a rare social hour watching TV with her younger twin sisters, Starla and Stacey.  Now that baby Selmer has joined the family, with her parents both working full time, Sophronia has her hands full.  Fortunately she does not feel any pressure to get a job herself, but she does spend the free time she can find studying her passions and fishing in the creek to supplement their meager diet.

Sims2: Strangetown Old Folks' Home in Winter

Ariana Louie endowed this home the memory of her husband Gavin Newson, one of the original six Newson orphans that were one of the founding families of Strangetown.  It sits on the edge of the town limits, an imposing three-storey stone edifice with a corner tower.  It comprises five single-bedroom apartments for the town's seniors to move to when they want to leave their house or apartment to their children, or they can't manage their own household anymore.  Urbain Underhill is the current caretaker.
