Selena and Solomon Sadler, along with their toddler daughter Sophronia, were the first family to move into the new planned community of Middleground. Their house is small and the long, thin plot of land is awkward, but they particularly love the big windows and cosy decorating of their living room. Upstairs there are only two small bedrooms, which
Solomon plans to make a living fishing, but with winter on the way the river at the back of their property has already frozen over. Selena has a job as an ambassador's intern. She intended to take some time off once they discovered they were expecting another baby, but she pushed herself to keep going to bring a little money in. Since Solomon will be at home she went back to work immediately after the babies (moar twins!) Stacey and Starla were born.
The real life Selena Sadler was born in 1859 in the wonderfully-named Much Markle in Herefordshire, England. She emigrated to the US and died in Maryland in 1928, after what I imagine to have been an eventful life. I guess I made a mistake with Solomon and Sophronia since they are both top-1000 names, but I just liked them.
The houses in Middleground are subtly different than the plasticbox Newbie Road or Backdoor Lane houses, with their own characteristic look. I'm really looking forward to playing them.
The first day a Sim is pregnant, nothing changes except that they their needs deplete more quickly (well, and they can't clean a litterbox and the 'try for baby' interaction disappears). After they get their baby bump, though, the second and third days of pregnancy they normally don't go to work. A notification appears saying "Selena has the day off!" and the carpool doesn't come for them. However, Sims always have a "Walk to work" interaction that appears as soon as they would normally go to work (an hour before their shift). I recently discovered that it appears even for pregnant Sims, so now when it's convenient I send off my pregnant Sims to work, like for Selena here. With Solomon already at home and Sophronia now a child and off at school all day, there was no need for her to stay home too.
