Arabella Newson is one of the oldest residents of Strangetown, the last remaining child of the six Newson siblings who were some of the earliest founders of the town. She's a bit of a mysterious figure in the town, never having a job, dating, or socializing with townspeople very much. She has a reputation as being a mechanical genius, which turned out to be well-founded when in her later years she sold toy robots and automated machines for housecleaning our of her home.
Her home is an old industrial building that was converted into loft apartments, but for many years Arabella lived there alone. She took in an orphan girl who is now a teenager renowned for her beauty, intelligence and creativity. There are also rumours that her mechanical innovations are so far advanced that she is building robotic people. Certainly the large greenhouse is tended by a humanoid-looking machine, and a limousine rumoured to be part of the Intelligence network regularly 'borrows' something similar for some purposes the townspeople can't quite fathom.
Arabella was the first, and so far only, Sim in this town to roll to have a robot crafting station as her way of making a living. Like the other crafting stations (pottery, flower-arranging, toys, I forget what else), you can either sell what you make directly off it, or keep them in inventory and sell them in a store. I had her sell everything directly until she had a gold Robotics badge, then once she had built up some decent inventory, open a store.
Much to my surprise the first time I had a Sim get a gold Robotics badge, it turns out Sims can create new Sims in the form of Servos. They are built on the crafting station, but as well as selling them, they can be 'activated' and given names, at which point they become playable Sims. They are obviously some differences - most notably, they don't have life stages, never die, and have fewer needs - but they are otherwise the same, with lifetime wants, relationships, and everything else.
