TV: Kim's Convenience

There's a lot to love about Kim's Convenience.  I love the unabashed setting in Toronto, with a Queen streetcar going by in the very first shot of the pilot.  There's the only majority Korean cast I can think of on a mainstream network, and the show isn't shy about tackling issues like resistance to gay pride right out of the gate.  I don't feel qualified to comment on whether or not it does a good job of it, but I'm happy it's there.  The characters almost always speak English, even when it's just Appa and Umma and they would presumably speak Korean to each other when alone.  But I guess that's a lot to ask of Canadian TV audiences.

Also, if you need to practice objectifying non-white men for a change, Simu Liu is a perfect place to start, and he apparently doesn't mind!
