Colette finds an old oil lamp in the old building she bought and renovated into a gift shop. She starts to clean it up, thinking she might sell it in the shop... but then an honest-to-goddess genie appears and tells her she has three wishes! She wishes for a long life, then lets the genie go back into the lamp for another day.
Okay, so this is weird and random, and I love it. I get excited every time the gypsy leaves the lamp for one of my families. It happens pretty often, although I've never figured out what particular combination of factors causes it. There are six possible wishes, and my favourite by far is the "Resurrect...". It allows the Sim making the wish to resurrect any one of the Sims they knew who have died. Most of the time it works, but sometimes it fails, and the person is resurrected as a zombie. I have four zombies in the challenge I'm playing right now - two were elders when they died, one was an adult, and one was a teenager. I've had plenty of other people resurrected successfully.
Often my Sims will have a want to make a wish, which I let them do immediately, but I randomly select what they pick. If they pick "Resurrect..." I also randomly select who they try to resurrect. I've learned to appreciate the zombies. They never age or die, but otherwise they are exactly the same as other Sims. It can be *very* handy to have a zombie grandfather in the house to do the cooking and cleaning and stay with the kids when the parents have to go to work!
I get frustrated when time starts passing and nobody wants to make a wish. So, at midnight every night, if there is a lamp on the lot, I roll a number from 1 to 10 for each member of the household. Anyone who rolls a 10 gets to wish!
